Spiritual Care

|

Spiritual Care assists residents, tenants, families, staff and volunteers in making connections
• with respective and varied faith traditions
• with families, friends and communities
• with God – “whatever you conceive God to be”
• with your life story, hopes and dreams, your longing for meaning and purpose

Fred Douglas Society - Spiritual Care
Fred Douglas Lodge – Personal Care Home.

We offer worship in the chapel led by community faith representatives (United, Roman Catholic, Ukrainian Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican), and more informal hymn sings on each Resident Care Unit led by our in-house chaplain.  We also host seasonal observances (Christmas by Candlelight, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday), and encourage family members to join residents for these special times.  Once a year, on the Sunday closest to November 1st, we acknowledge the passing of residents and others in a service we call “Remembering Friends.”

“Caring for the Spirit” happens in many other ways, from 1:1 visits with individual residents to support to family members, staff and volunteers. A chaplain is on-call 24/7 for spiritual care emergencies (death or bereavement).
