Fred Douglas Chateau (formerly Kiwanis Chateau) was originally developed by the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg to provide a comfortable and affordable living alternative for the 55+ community. Fred Douglas Chateau is owned and operated by The Fred Douglas Society, a local leader in non-profit housing and programs for seniors. The property is managed on our behalf by Fred Douglas Management Inc.
In Manitoba and around the world, Fred Douglas is known for its commitment to people, communities and quality of life. Nearly 8,000 clubs are working to improve social standards across the globe.
In 1987, this spirit motivated the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg to develop Manitoba’s first Life Lease community, Fred Douglas Chateau, a 122-suite property in the heart of the city’s downtown.
Backed by the values of The Fred Douglas Society and the experience of Fred Douglas Management Inc., Fred Douglas Chateau is guaranteed to provide an outstanding living experience that delivers what it promises.

In summer there are outdoor exercise programs five days a week in nearby parks. The food trucks on Broadway are just a short walk away, and we’re within easy walking distance of The Forks and Exchange District.
